FOR MEN

24/7 Dad - Fatherhood Program
24/7 Dad focuses on five characteristics that a father needs to be a great dad 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  The program covers universal aspects of fatherhood so that men of all cultures, races, religions, and backgrounds can benefit from the program.

When a father completes the program, he becomes a "24/7" Dad who:

  • Is aware of the significant impact he has on his family.
  • Is aware of his emotions, capabilities, and limitations.
  • Takes care of himself physically and spiritually.
  • Is aware of his distinct significant role, and is a positive role model for his children.  He’s a nurturing parent who understands the unique contributions that both he and mom bring to the table (the difference between “fathering” and “mothering”).
  • Works to build healthy relationships with his family and others in his life.

Dr. Dad
The “Doctor Dad” program is an infant and toddler health and safety workshop that is specifically designed for fathers with young children. As more and more dads are taking care of the daily needs of their infants and toddlers, “Doctor Dad” enables men to handle the majority of medical situations that may arise as their children grow.

Some of the topics covered at “Doctor Dad” include:

  • The Well Child – covers information on temperament, crying, nutrition, and immunizations
  • The Sick Child – covers information on taking a temperature, treating fever and the common cold, and preventing dehydration
  • The Injured Child – covers information on preventing and treating burns/sunburns, drowning, cuts/scrapes, head injuries, poisoning, and choking
  • The Safe Child – covers information on safety inside and outside the home, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), gun safety, and anger management

If you have participated in choosing abortion for a girlfriend, friend or spouse, be prepared that both of you may experience what is called "Post-Abortion Syndrome" or "Post-Abortion Stress".

Post-abortion Syndrome symptoms can start immediately or years later. While the medical community may argue as to the validity of it, there are many studies and testimonies to prove that it does exist.

Post-abortive men and women often deny having abortions due to the guilt and depression associated with it.   The symptoms can range from mild depression to suicidal thoughts and can also be linked to other emotional behaviors such as Eating Disorders, Drug or Alcohol Abuse, and Self Punishment. Millions of men and women who have had abortions or participated in the decision process, discover an emotional dilemma that won't go away.

Post-abortion Syndrome can affect men as well as women. That's right -- men too can experience the symptoms of it years after the abortion, which can include some of the following:

  • Fear of failure
  • Fear of being judged
  • Fear of making decisions
  • Fear of taking risks
  • Feeling of defeat
  • Feeling unworthy
  • Depression
  • Guilt
  • Shame
  • Panic Attacks
  • Addictions
  • Suicidal thoughts
  • Sexual dysfunctions
  • Sense of loss

And other symptoms.

If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, understand that you are not alone and the Burleson Pregnancy Aid Center can help you.    There is healing available after an abortion.
